Tell Me A Story, Aunt Bea!

Today is national tell a story day!  If there’s ANYTHING I can do, it’s telling stories.  In honor of tell a story day, I’d like to tell a short story today of how silly your girl can be sometimes.

It was Friday, September 7, 2007…or maybe September 9, 2008.  I don’t remember the exact date or year, but it was definitely close to September 11.  Anyway, I don’t get much sleep on Thursday nights, so Friday mornings are always a challenge.  My alarm went off at 6:00 a.m., and I thought I pressed snooze.  I must have disabled it because in what seemed like a literal blink of an eye it was 6:50!  I JOLTED up, got ready, and surprisingly was out of the house by 7:20.  I turned on the radio to 104.7, The Fish, and for whatever reason Kevin & Taylor were talking about 9/11.  As a matter of fact, they were going to have an NYC fireman as a guest later on that morning talking about his experience.  I thought it was odd.  After all, the 11th was a couple of days away.  I shrugged it off and kept going.  However, I couldn’t help but notice that they kept going on and on and on about the feelings, condolences, tributes, etc. for 9/11.  To top it off, they were celebrating Kevin’s birthday which is also on September 11.  At first, I was like…ok…they’re gonna be on vacation next week…that’s why they’re doing this now, right?  Wrong!  They mentioned something about what they were going to talk about next week.  Obviously I’m very confused.  I tried really hard to forget about it.  They had folks calling in talking about their family members they lost, playing tribute songs, Kevin’s kids and listeners were calling to wish him happy birthday, and I’m like whoa…it’s really September 11th?!  At first I didn’t believe it, but the evidence was overwhelming.  I tried to look for electronic bank signs to find the date, but none of them had it displayed when I passed by!  I started to panic.  I thought to myself, “Where have I been for 4 days?  Was I in a coma??  Did I go unconscious during the time I blinked my eyes this morning???”  I looked at my phone to see if anyone tried to contact me, and I had no missed calls and no texts.  I thought, “I’ve been in a coma for 4 days and no one even missed me?!   WHAT THE HECK??”  By this time I was down the street from work, and I got really nervous because I didn’t know what I was going to say to my boss.  I mean, how do you explain where you’ve been for 4 days when you have no earthly idea?!  So, I park, and I sit there for a moment trying to get myself together before I go in.  I get in the office, and no one is overly glad to see me.  Weird.  Maybe they don’t care that I’ve been gone all this time.  I get to my desk and brace myself for the moment of truth.  I pick up the calendar with my eyes closed.  Crazy or not crazy?  Survey says…September 9!  (or 7th…whatever the date was).  Not crazy!!  WOO HOO!!!  Now, the only problem is why the HECK were they talking about 9/11 so heavily beforehand??  It’s not like it fell on the weekend or something.  Well, anyway.  There you have it folks…the story of the time I thought I was in a coma for 4 days!

LOL
